Title Template

This is a Title template which I created. Though we have not yet decided on a name, I brought together certain conventions of horror (blood and silence) and things which we were planning on including into our film opening such as shadows. The red skull resembles the death within the film. The reason I made the background a brick wall is because - to some extent - it resembles a barrier and a force in the way of escape. It suggests that the characters have no hope.

However, like I said above, this is only a template and we will most probably change it or add things to it.

The Actors - Chloe Lawler and Afsara Tasnim

This picture is of the two actors used in our film opening. Chloe and Brian were chosen to be in the film opening due to the fact that they both have all the necessary features that horror characters have. Brian was used to in the film opening as we all thought as he was an unlikely character to be a victim in a film, we chose to go against all the natural connotations of a victim. However, we also chose Chloe because of her innocent features. Using both these actors we have gone against the original aspects of victims, however, also conforms to how a female character would be represented in a horror film. Run The Block Entertainment held auditions but felt that actual group members would be more reliable and self-efficient.

This is an alternative actress that we used in an additional scene. The reason that we chose Afsara is because we were short of time to look for another actor/actress to play the role of Chloe's friend. Also, Afsara understood the narrative well and so it was an advantage for our group to use.

Well, we have an opening in a role that would help not only us but you as well!!

We need someone who has the ability to stay after school and even work on weekends

It is an amazing opportunity to gain UCAS points for university!! And by placing your experience with us on your CVs and Personal statement you will have access a variety of different activities J

You will also be provided with a copy of the final version for your portfolio!!

Ideal Setting - Chloe Lawler

This is the ideal setting that we would of liked to have used.

However, that was not possible so we used multiple settings that we felt suitable for our genre.

Locations Used In Our Opening - Chloe Lawler

The RTB Crew used a variety of different locations throughout our film opening, which we thought would suit our chosen genre. The first location we used was Shelmadine Close which was recommended by Afsara as she knew this place well. This place had a lot of relatively old buildings and had a creepy alleyway also. The location was also quiet and there wasn't many interruptions during the filming.

Another location used was the Tower Hamlets Cemetery. This was Chloe's chosen setting as she believed that the place would fit in with our genre perfectly. We used this setting for Brian's running scene and we did a few extreme close ups of gravestones as we thought these images will be relevant for our opening.

We also used Afsara's bedroom as a location to film Chloe's first scene that included the zooming into the eye.

Afsara's bathroom was also used for the knife dripping scene. This was an alternative shot that may not be used in our actual final edit as this was not in our storyboard. According to our original storyboard we were supposed to film in a car park to show that Brian (Actor) is running from different locations, however we did not use this as we thought using both the cemetery and the car park would be inconvenient  and would not look good in the final piece.

Preliminary Task

Yasir's Pitch

We first start with a close up of a girls eyes. She is lying down on her bed, looking up at the ceiling, however the audience don't know that. The camera is high above her, so she is looking straight at it. It is a high angle shot.

The camera slowly zooms into her eye and she begins to close her eyelid, the camera - simultaneously - begins to blur.

A credit of 'Run the Block Entertainment creeps into the corner and begins to shake. Again it begins to fade out of another eye. This time it's a boy who is running in panic. You can hear heavy breathing throughout this shot.The camera slowly zooms out of the eye, showing a close-up of the boys face. the heavy breathing gets louder and louder. the camera is still zooming out, showing the boys full body as he is running.

Then there is a head and shoulder shot from the front of his body. The boy is facing and running towards the screen, however, behind him in the background is heavy, dark mist.

Another credit reading 'Presents' creeps in from another corner and begins to shake, resembling the boys feelings of fear and panic. The boy jumps over a fence. it is shown in slow-motion. the screen is split in four and shows the slow jump from four different angles.

The scene then changes, and the boy is running on the road. It is a mid shot, and he is running towards the camera. Again, behind him, the audience can see the mist. it is darker and heavier.

Again, the scene changes. It is a establishing shot of the entrance to an underground car park. We have a point of view shot of the boy walking in the car park. the camera the zooms out revealing his body to the audience as he walks.  

The camera zooms out to an extreme-long shot, setting the scene to the inside of the car park.
the camera follows the boy deep into the car park, where he brings out his car keys. he presses the key and unlocks his car.

There is a ghostly sound and he looks back. but there is nothing there. The camera spins around him using a panning shot, suggesting that he is looking around. When he spins around twice, he sees the mist right in front of him. there is a dark figure inside it, slowly walking towards him. The camera goes back to the boy, showing a close up of his frightened face.
The camera changes to the perspective view of the dark figure. the camera zooms into the boy, quickly, suggesting that the mist and the figure both went inside him.

The camera changes and shows from the side the boy falling over in slow-motion.

It then changes to a high angle shot of his face, bleeding.

Simultaneously, the girl, from the beginning woke up as the boy became unconscious
