The Actors - Chloe Lawler and Afsara Tasnim
This picture is of the two actors used in our film opening. Chloe and Brian were chosen to be in the film opening due to the fact that they both have all the necessary features that horror characters have. Brian was used to in the film opening as we all thought as he was an unlikely character to be a victim in a film, we chose to go against all the natural connotations of a victim. However, we also chose Chloe because of her innocent features. Using both these actors we have gone against the original aspects of victims, however, also conforms to how a female character would be represented in a horror film. Run The Block Entertainment held auditions but felt that actual group members would be more reliable and self-efficient.
This is an alternative actress that we used in an additional scene. The reason that we chose Afsara is because we were short of time to look for another actor/actress to play the role of Chloe's friend. Also, Afsara understood the narrative well and so it was an advantage for our group to use.

Locations Used In Our Opening - Chloe Lawler
The RTB Crew used a variety of different locations throughout our film opening, which we thought would suit our chosen genre. The first location we used was Shelmadine Close which was recommended by Afsara as she knew this place well. This place had a lot of relatively old buildings and had a creepy alleyway also. The location was also quiet and there wasn't many interruptions during the filming.
Another location used was the Tower Hamlets Cemetery. This was Chloe's chosen setting as she believed that the place would fit in with our genre perfectly. We used this setting for Brian's running scene and we did a few extreme close ups of gravestones as we thought these images will be relevant for our opening.
We also used Afsara's bedroom as a location to film Chloe's first scene that included the zooming into the eye.
Afsara's bathroom was also used for the knife dripping scene. This was an alternative shot that may not be used in our actual final edit as this was not in our storyboard. According to our original storyboard we were supposed to film in a car park to show that Brian (Actor) is running from different locations, however we did not use this as we thought using both the cemetery and the car park would be inconvenient and would not look good in the final piece.

Yasir's Pitch
We first start with a close up of a girls eyes. She is lying down on her bed, looking up at the ceiling, however the audience don't know that. The camera is high above her, so she is looking straight at it. It is a high angle shot.
The camera slowly zooms into her eye and she begins to close her eyelid, the camera - simultaneously - begins to blur.
A credit of 'Run the Block Entertainment creeps into the corner and begins to shake. Again it begins to fade out of another eye. This time it's a boy who is running in panic. You can hear heavy breathing throughout this shot.The camera slowly zooms out of the eye, showing a close-up of the boys face. the heavy breathing gets louder and louder. the camera is still zooming out, showing the boys full body as he is running.
Then there is a head and shoulder shot from the front of his body. The boy is facing and running towards the screen, however, behind him in the background is heavy, dark mist.
Another credit reading 'Presents' creeps in from another corner and begins to shake, resembling the boys feelings of fear and panic. The boy jumps over a fence. it is shown in slow-motion. the screen is split in four and shows the slow jump from four different angles.
The scene then changes, and the boy is running on the road. It is a mid shot, and he is running towards the camera. Again, behind him, the audience can see the mist. it is darker and heavier.
Again, the scene changes. It is a establishing shot of the entrance to an underground car park. We have a point of view shot of the boy walking in the car park. the camera the zooms out revealing his body to the audience as he walks.
The camera zooms out to an extreme-long shot, setting the scene to the inside of the car park.
the camera follows the boy deep into the car park, where he brings out his car keys. he presses the key and unlocks his car.
There is a ghostly sound and he looks back. but there is nothing there. The camera spins around him using a panning shot, suggesting that he is looking around. When he spins around twice, he sees the mist right in front of him. there is a dark figure inside it, slowly walking towards him. The camera goes back to the boy, showing a close up of his frightened face.
The camera changes to the perspective view of the dark figure. the camera zooms into the boy, quickly, suggesting that the mist and the figure both went inside him.
The camera changes and shows from the side the boy falling over in slow-motion.
It then changes to a high angle shot of his face, bleeding.
Simultaneously, the girl, from the beginning woke up as the boy became unconscious

Character and Costume Research By Afsara Tasnim
This is an image of Jessica Alba from "The Eye". I think she is an example of someone who would be preferred to play the role of the girl in our opening. The reason why I chose her is because she has a naive, innocent face which can be used for the victim in our opening.
Her costume choice in the top right image shows that she is in her mid twenties and also quite scared as she cannot recognize herself in the mirror.
This is an image of Bruce Willis from "The Sixth Sense". I also think he will be fit to play the role of one of our characters in our opening scene. I think this because his appearance makes him look very friendly and welcoming. He looks like he will be able to play a father figure of the victim.

-During the 1930s to the 1940s the characters in horror films were mostly gothic based. The characters included vampires, werewolves, devils and madmen. Films that included these characters were such films such as 'Dracula' and 'Wolf Man'.
-In the 1950s to the 1960s the characters now ranged from possession to characters with personality defects. The characters usually showed a great deal of violence and had psychological problems. 'Pyscho' was a typical film that included a violent character who had psychological issues. The films also included world events where charcters were normally survivors of a war. Other films in this time had characters that suggested to the viewer that they were being controlled by demonic forces, such as paranormal spirits.
-The 1970s to the 1980s showed the charcters of horror films turning to occultism, introducing the idea of “fear of the unknown”. Such films are 'The Exorcist ' (1973), 'Audrey Rose' (1977) etc Characters are generally “possessed” or “reincarnated”, which gives the audience a sense of personal paranoia.
-During the 1990s the films were now generally slasher films such as ' New Nightmare ' (1994), ' The Dark Half ' (1993) where the characters of the films are almost entirely madmen trying to murder the protagonist.

This is one of the music instrumentals I've researched which is based on thriller/horror. It's one of the most typical and well known instrumental for this genre as it is from Michael Jackson. One of the things we want our audience to recognise from our music is that it should be unique and not stereo typical.

Annotations of 3 Horror Film Titles by Afsara Tasnim and Yasir Ali
The title of ‘diabolique’ creates a scary and daunting mood of horror. This is because the colour is red which connotes blood and danger. It builds a macabre atmosphere. The background is black which suggests death and emptiness. This is a typical convention of horror, which constantly comes up within the films. For example, black and other dark clothes are worn, or the victim is attacked at night and often the light bulb bursts or the candles seizes to light.The lines of the letters are extended. It could be interpreted to mean that the victims face a long and painful death. It could symbolize the amount of victims there are in the film and be a subliminal message to the audience telling them what to expect.
The extended lines go across the women’s face. It looks like scratch marks – claws. However, one of the extended lines goes the opposite way, again this could be a subliminal message suggesting that there is only one survivor. However, unlike the other lines, this one goes off of the cover. It could mean that the victim has escaped and is free from harm. However, there is still the unanswered question of where did the victim go. Though we acknowledge the he/she has escaped, the audience suspect the victim is safe from harm.
Instead of dots at the top of the I’s, there are pictures of faces. From just the cover it is impossible to say exactly who they are, however, from the way that they are used as expressions more than people indicates that they are victims.
- The sepia effect of the image connotes a mysterious effect as it doesn’t not show the original colour.
- The title ‘Frankenstein is antique. It creates an archaic background conveying that an old person may be the protagonist of the film.
- The fog gives a sense of importance to the character on the image connoting an unresolved mystery.
- This title is written in a big bold orange font as it symbolizes the Halloween pumpkin.
- The connotations of the black background show that the may revolve around someone’s death.
- This knife is significant as it is a prop that represents the genre of the film which is horror.
