Video Entry To Our Camera Problem... :(

Problems We Are Occurring :( - Afsara and Chloe

Today we were supposed to upload our footage onto the computer to edit the shots. However, we do not have the correct cables to connect the videocamera to the PC. We have discussed taking the camera home and searching for another wire, or burning the footage onto a CD from the TV. This problem has set us back an hour of editing time.

Here is an image of the video camera we used

Filming on the 22nd of January - Chloe Lawler

Today Chloe went round to Afsara's house to film the final shots. We covered filming all the parts in the storyboard and also the alternative scene with the knife. So far the filming has gone to plan, however, there were slight issues with the auto-focus and keeping the camera steady as we did not have a tripod. These were solved quickly though as we found everyday objects to help us keep the camera in frame.Tomorrow we all plan to film the final scene with Brian. We will film the part where Brian is backed up against a tree and zoom into his eye. This will be our final shoot.

Filming on the 21st of January - Chloe Lawler and Afsara Tasnim

Today Afsara, Chloe and Brian met up in our chosen location to film the final shots of the opening of our film. Unfortunately, Yasir was unable to attend as he was feeling unwell. The location we chose for our opening was the Tower Hamlets Cemetery as we all decided that the graveyard would fit for our genre perfectly. The atmosphere in the cemetery helps to set the scene of panic and the idea of being trapped. In addition, we covered the middle section of our story board and also filmed some additional shots as Afsara & Chloe thought that the alternative shots of the gravestones would be helpful throughout the editing process. We didn't come across any difficulties whilst filming however, it did not go as we planned. At first the plan was to wait till it's dark but then we all decided that it'll be best to film and edit the brightness afterwards. This helped us film quicker and also we were able to film all the shots as planned. Tomorrow Afsara and Chloe are going to meet up and film the last shot of our storyboard which is where she opens her eyes to reveal that she was dreaming. We are also going to film an additional shot that includes a knife dripping with blood.

Recording On The 15th January- Chloe & Afsara

Today Chloe and Afsara met up to film the first opening scene. We went to Afsara's house to record in her bedroom and discussed how we would like to approach the situation of filming from above the bed from a high angle. The eye scene was quite simple as we used only a few selections of shots including, a high angle shot, a medium shot, an extreme close up and a close up. During the recording we had a few issues with the auto-focus of the camera, as it was not focusing as we zoomed into the eye. We decided that the best option was to slow down the zoom speed of the camera and this helped to solve the problem. We also took different shots of the scene becasue we believed this would help us choose the best shot out of many. After we had finished filming we then went on to discuss our options and whether any additional scenes should be inputted into our opening for example, images of objects or places that we think will give the audience the chill factor. However, because Brian and Yasir were not there to discuss these decisions, we are all going to have a meeting in tomorrows filming session. Tomorrow we will plan to film the ending and futher scenes that we think will help to associate the footage with our selected genre.

Filming On Monday the 9th January - Chloe Lawler

On Monday the 9th of January, Run The Block Entertainment crew went to record the opening scene of our film. We gathered the equipment we needed, including two cameras, two tripods, a torchlight and our storyboard. We all went down to a backstreet behind St Pauls Secondary School, Shelmadine Close, to film the running scene. We chose this location due to the fact that the buildings around that area are old and the enclosed space allows the camera to capture the action with ease. We found that the camera could not zoom into the eye as fast as we would have liked it to, so we had to change the settings during the filming process. The camera angles were discussed also when we were talking about the shots in our storyboards.  We were then focused on filming the running scene in two sections where both cameras involved filming at the same time. It began to get late while filming, so the torchlight came in handy for planning backstage. During the filming we experienced some problems when choosing the location and the camera settings set us back in recording. However, we managed to overcome these difficulties without any issues. During our next filming sessions over the weekend, we will be filming more of the running scenes for the opening clips.
